Randi Dertzo's Take
I have to warn you: I'm not a fan of sitcoms in general because most of the sitcoms I've watched recently were not funny. There might be good sitcoms out there; I just haven't got around to watching them. On the other hand, I loved Kelsey Grammer in his role of Dr Frasier Crane so I had mixed feelings before sitting down to watch this pilot.

I'm afraid I didn't care too much for this show. It was funny at times but not enough for me to tune back on a regular basis. I also didn't care much for Tilly's working-class brother which sets up the final scene.

My favourite moment was when they go to bed in their new home in their "new" bed. I'll leave it at that so I don't post too much revealing spoilers.

Other shows airing at the same time as Hank are So You Think you Can Dance (results) on FOX, America's Next Top Model on CTV and The CW, The New Adventures of Old Christin on CBS, Bones on Global and new show Mercy on NBC and Citytv.
Rating: Watch it while you can! (Canceled early on)

Gordon McDougall's Take
Kelsey Grammer is back. Again. If you like his blustery persona, which he seems to play in every role, then you should enjoy this premise. Grammer plays Hank Pryor, a corporate leader who has become a victim of the economic downturn. Now, he decides to enthusiastically embrace his new, simpler life by moving his family back to his Virginia hometown. He sees it as an opportunity to get to know his two kids: sullen, teenaged moody Maddie (I wonder if it's a coincidence that there's also an evil character in the X-Men named Maddie Pryor...probably ;-) and somewhat neurotic, ten-year-old hyper Henry.

It isn't long before Hank's idyllic image of returning to his roots is handed a healthy dose of reality. His new house is nothing like the luxurious Park Avenue apartment he lived in before (no servants, for one thing). His budding relationships with his kids are strained from the start. His brother-in-law, Grady (played by SNL alum David Koechner), has been in Virginia all along and takes passive aggressive delight in Hank's downfall.

TV Gord's Verdict: Because Grammer always plays the same type of character, this feels a lot like, "What if Frasier had a family?", so if that sounds good to you, this show should fit the bill. There are a few lines that made me laugh out loud, but it's on opposite one of the funniest sitcoms on TV right now (The New Adventures of Old Christine), so this is going to be an interesting competition to watch.
